At 11 o’clock last night, a total three people fell victim to two separate attacks at the docks. While waiting for his friend outside his local pub by the docks, Seaman Charles Batch of H. M. A. S. Constantinople was assaulted by two men and suffered two stab wounds and a blow to his head.

He was later found at the side of the street by two police officers, who brought him to the local clinic for treatment before he was transferred by St. John's Ambulance to the nearby Military Hospital.

Simultaneously, Nellis Bartram and his fiancée Ms. Elizabeth Harcourt had been accosted by a group known to be from the local gang. When Mr. Bartram asked to be left alone, he was beaten and had his arm broken. Ms. Harcourt declined to comment. It is still unknown whether the two crimes are related but police are requesting the public to avoid the area late at night.
